Alisal Fall Artisan Fair

The recent heatwave might not show it, but the holiday season has descended upon the valley! What little is left of the year will inevitably be packed with good food, time with loved ones, and all sorts of festive activities. This merriment also comes with the stress of gift buying, hosting preparation, and all of the dozens of little things we do to make the holidays special. In anticipation of this annual emotional and physical crunchtime, Alisal Guest Ranch and Resort brought us in to treat guests to their first annual Fall Artisan Fair. This inspired event incorporated over 30 local vendors and makers all showcasing quality, unique wares to dazzle and inspire.

Alisal Guest Ranch invited all of their VIPs including Signature Club members, golf and tennis members, resort guests, and homeowners. The sun was shining, and these lucky attendees (and their guests!) were ready to enjoy the bounty of skill and craftsmanship before them. The variety on display was truly amazing. Jewelry makers such as Hammered Hoops and Fern + Stone were there with one-of-a-kind pieces to set off the perfect holiday look.  Wanderlust Wildcraft had handmade soaps and bath bombs for relaxing in the tub after a long day of cheer.  The Maker’s Buffet even provided the opportunity to make your very own pumpkin succulent centerpiece! The DIY spirit did not end there, custom essential oil blends and bath salts were also available. Is there anything more thoughtful than a gift completely tailored to reflect the recipient?

This of course does not begin to cover all the amazing artisans present, but it may be a bit ambitious to mention everything available including original clothing, skincare, aromatherapy, candles, dried flower wreaths - the list goes on. There was no shortage of excellent gifts for those special someones on your list (or honestly just for your special self).

One of the best parts of this event was not merely the individual merchant booths, but the way they were incorporated into a relaxed and festive atmosphere. Live music floated through the air, and lounge furniture was set up near the stage to allow for some respite between purchases. Performances from local artists included Arwen Lewis, Christina Barnes, The Paige Peel Band, and Jacie Lynn Jones with Jon Firey to cap it off.

Along with the option to shop, guests were treated to plenty of scrumptious opportunities to keep up their strength. Chef Anthony and his killer team whipped up a complete taco bar, with the Circle Bar offering cool, refreshing beverages. There were several food vendors offering up the very bites they were named after, including bread from The Bread Co, soup from Santa Barbara Soup Company, and cheese from Cailloux Cheese. And not to worry, Crawford family wines were ready to pair with any dining choice.

This was not your average gift market. It was a celebration of all the exceptional local talents we are lucky enough to have around the valley. Part art display, part concert, part time relaxing with friends. If only all holiday shopping could be this enjoyable!
